Founded in 1906 by E.J. and Dr. C.H. Krause, Columbia Quarry Co. began with the Brown Quarry in Columbia, IL and expanded with the high-capacity Dupo Plant by 1960. For decades, Beelman Truck Company was CQC’s largest customer before officially acquiring the company in 2010. This purchase included Columbia Plant #1, Waterloo Plant #7, and Dupo Plant #9, three limestone aggregate sites near metro St. Louis. With experience in slag production at Granite City Slag since 2007, the Beelman family expanded its ability to produce and deliver rock, slag, and dirt with modern equipment and over a million tons of capacity.
